Falcon Chambers specialises in litigation and advice on all aspects of the law of property and matters relating to it. Chambers is regarded as one of the leading sets for property litigation and commercial property, as well as landlord and tenant and agricultural law.

Members are frequently instructed in cases where property rights and principles of insolvency law meet, and where claims for negligence arise against solicitors and surveyors. Some members specialise in the fields of town and country planning, compulsory purchase, EU competition law and building and engineering disputes.

Falcon Chambers is now seeking an Assistant Practice Manager to join their dynamic team.

Reporting to: Senior Clerk

Responsible for: Assisting Practice Managers in the administration and development of their teams.

Operational, Clerking Responsibilities

  • Assisting and dealing with professional enquiries with regard to members of chambers practices.
  • Organising bookings, listings and general diary management for members of chambers. Ensuring that opportunities are recorded. Ensuring that thorough conflict checks are made on each new case, and the case entered accurately onto the LEX system.
  • Liaising with members of chambers and members of the clerks room as necessary about court, conference, and general practice bookings. Such bookings to be made in an efficient and accurate manner.
  • Assisting with reviewing members diaries, ensuring that fees are agreed in a timely manner, billing cases is done promptly, following-up fee quotes and general liaison with Instructing Solicitors.
  • Liaising with all clerks with regard to work levels and availability of members of chambers.
  • Maintain and develop good professional relationships with regard to members of chambers, members of staff, Courts, Instructing Solicitors, and colleagues in other chambers.
  • Communicating as soon as possible with the Senior Clerk, members of chambers and if appropriate Instructing Solicitors when a potential diary problem or clash becomes evident.

Practice Development

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of the practice and expertise of members. Maintain market awareness of developments within the broad area of property law.
  • Establish and develop relationships with Instructing Solicitors.
  • In conjunction with colleagues ensure that regular practice meetings are held with members of chambers.
  • Contribute to marketing and business development ideas. Attend such meetings as and when necessary, which may be after working hours.
  • Develop a pro-active approach to business development by identifying and reporting opportunities to the wider group.

Administration and other duties

  • Participate and contribute to Clerking and Staff meetings.
  • Where required participate in other project groups from time to time.
  • To observe and adhere to all policies contained within the Staff Handbook.
  • To attend events as a representative of Falcon Chambers when required.
