No.18 Chambers is a well-established and highly regarded set of barristers’ chambers based in Southampton, providing specialist legal services across Family, Employment, Property and Public Access work.
Chambers prides itself on delivering an exceptional service to both professional and lay clients through its dedicated team of barristers and staff. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clerk to join the busy clerking team. This role is ideally suited to an organised, proactive and motivated individual looking to build a long-term career within barristers’ chambers. Working alongside experienced clerks, you will gain valuable exposure to the day-to-day operation of Chambers, receive comprehensive training and support, and develop a strong understanding of the clerking profession in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.
About the role:
Providing administrative and clerking support, assisting with the efficient day-to-day running of Chambers and supporting the management of members’ practices. The role offers exposure to a broad range of clerking responsibilities, including diary management, liaising with solicitors and clients, preparing and distributing case papers, supporting fee administration, maintaining accurate records and responding to day-to-day enquiries.
This is a varied role in a busy chambers environment, providing the opportunity to develop a broad understanding of clerking and practice management. Working alongside experienced clerks, you will assist with the smooth running of members’ practices while developing your organisational, communication and commercial awareness. The successful candidate will be expected to manage competing priorities, work accurately under pressure and provide a professional and responsive service to members, solicitor clients and members of the public.
