Fees Manager (Ref:1815) – Enterprise Chambers

Remuneration: £Up to 45,000

Location: Bristol

Enterprise Chambers is a leading commercial chancery set of barristers specialising in commercial and chancery, company, insolvency and restructuring, banking and property law. Enterprise Chambers comprises barristers spread across four sites.

With offices in London, Bristol, Leeds and Newcastle, Enterprise Chambers has nationwide coverage and local knowledge. Members regularly appear at all levels of courts and tribunals, as well as at mediations and arbitrations.

About the role:

The Fees Manager will report to the Senior Clerk, the post holder will ideally have a minimum of 5 years relevant experience and a strong understanding of both fees collection and billing processes. Proficient administration skills and high levels of motivation are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fees Management
  • Providing monthly reports to the management committee on the level of aged debt and raising (if appropriate) any concerns or undesirable trends with firms or funding types
  • Conducting reviews of aged debt with members
    
  • Creating good working relationships with Chambers clients and their accounts teams
  • Training and mentoring of Chambers Assistant to help with fee collection.
  • Debt Collection
    
  • Identify specific debts to pursue, contact clients, record outcome and diarise for follow-up action
    
  • Monitor large firms and initiate procedures with their accounts department to control/reduce indebtedness.
    
  • Ensure fee notes and reminder letters are printed where appropriate on a daily basis, utilising chambers assistant
    
  • Reducing Chambers debt as a whole
    
  • Payments processing and Queries
    
  • Monitor and process payments that come through the payment inbox with clerks assistance
  • Deal with queries that arise on payments and VAT.
    
  • Reporting and File Maintenance
    
  • Provide ad hoc reports to Barristers on request.
    
  • Check Unbilled fees report and liaise with Clerks were needed.
    
  • Update solicitor records on system where appropriate.

Hours of Work: 

Monday to Friday 8:30am – 5pm (4 days in the office, 1 day remote)
