Responsible to: Senior & Deputy Senior Clerk
Main Function of Job: To provide support services for the Clerks Room and assist in the smooth running of Chambers.
Specific Duties
- Obtaining daily court listings and updating the diary system and members with the relevant information
- Have the ability to field calls and manage routine telephone and email enquiries
- Photocopying, printing, scanning, clearing paper jams, maintaining paper and toner levels in photocopiers
- Producing bundles, both in hard copy and electronic copy format; attention to detail is key to this task
- Researching authorities via online platforms or in libraries for members
- Booking in/out of papers and instructions using LEX. Accuracy and procedures are paramount in this task
- Assist with the filing and administration of CFAs and other agreements
- Lodging authorities and skeleton arguments to the courts and tribunals
- Billing tasks as directed by more senior members of the clerking team
- Transport of books and papers to and from courts and tribunals, and other collections and deliveries as required
- Liaising directly with members to ensure their needs are met in terms of junior clerk support
- Collection and distribution incoming DX, mail, deliveries and emails and sending out same (including Special Delivery items to the Post Office when necessary) throughout the day
- Maintaining good order of the stationery room, stationery ordering, oversight of management of printer sub-contractor
- Assisting in provision of refreshments and meeting room services such as assistance with video conferencing equipment and covering reception as necessary
- Developing familiarity with the general objectives and priorities of the Clerks Room
- Work as a team with Junior Team Leader Assistants/Team Leader Assistants to ensure that all the necessary tasks are performed daily and provide cover for other members of the team during holidays, sickness and other absences that may arise.
- Keep all returning of boxes/files to solicitors up-to-date to ensure that the Clerks room is maintained in accordance with Health & Safety regulations
- Arrange additional confidential waste collections as appropriate
- Check the building to ensure that everything is in good working order
General
Carrying out any ad hoc duties or projects with or for members of Chambers/as directed by a senior member of staff.

Person Specification
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or level 5 or above, including English and Maths
- 6 months experience in a junior clerking or similar administrative role is desirable but not essential for the right candidate
- Initiative, close attention to detail and a willingness to work in a pressured environment
- Well presented, with good communication skills and a tidy approach to the working environment
- Ambition to learn
