The Role

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Marketing Manager with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The set is a London-based leading Barristers Chambers, looking to appoint an experienced, highly motivated and energetic Marketing Manager to join their busy and friendly team. Previous experience in chambers or the legal sector is not a requirement. The Chambers offers a hybrid working arrangement of 4 days in the office and 1 day a week working from home.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of Marketing & Communications Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Identifying, developing and facilitating marketing initiatives and opportunities to raise the profile of Chambers and its barrister members.
  • Liaising with the barristers to write and edit or make submissions to a range of publications, in particular to legal directories and award panels for the purposes of obtaining higher recognition both individually, as barristers, and collectively, as a Chambers.
  • Providing marketing support and enabling market growth to 5 different practice groups each specialising in alternative fields of legal expertise.
  • Attending and presenting at monthly meetings with each of the 5 practice specific groups.
  • Assisting with the website strategy and content, including updating practice group narrative, members profiles, news items, reported cases and driving forward a programme of Search Engine Optimisation.
  • PR and liaison with the legal and wider national press on behalf of Chambers and its Members.
  • Organisation of Chambers marketing events, to include: seminars, conferences, parties, corporate hospitality, dinners, drinks, and industry fairs both at home and abroad.
  • Management of external communications and the promotion of Chambers via the website and social media accounts; the candidate will have management of all sites.
  • Assisting with strategic analysis of work and trends to identify future opportunities.
  • Leading multi-channel marketing campaigns (email, social media, events) aimed at increasing brand visibility. As well as generally building the profile and overall visibility of Chambers and its members both nationally and internationally.
  • Preparing media briefing notes and interviewees as appropriate.
  • Maintaining, updating and refreshing client database, analysing engagement, running client reports and identifying opportunities.
  • Engaging with barristers to produce written work for publications and for general dissemination to our database, to include maintaining a library of said articles and seminar materials, such as PowerPoints and speaker biographies.
  • Preparing materials (content, design and artwork) for advertisements, seminars, social events and industry engagement, including: invitations, circulars, biographies, handouts, and PowerPoint.

The Person

The key skills and qualities of a Marketing & Communication Manager are:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous Marketing experience.

  • Efficient and reliable.
  • Excellent organisational skills and able to work under own initiative.
  • Energetic self-starter with an ability to work with autonomy but to also be able to take direction as well as work as part of a team.
